Gibson

About the author

Gibson is a former futurologist whose prediction is now materialising.

Two decades ago at the London School of Economics, Gibson studied and published on human and workplace efficiencies and what would happen when technology became ubiquitous in how we live and work. The research anticipated a future where humans and machines would be bridged more seamlessly and the divide between them would disappear, much as it has with mobile phones today. His Master's research on ubiquitous computing has been cited more than fifty times, including in work on technology adoption.

AI is the biggest step into that future yet. The years between then and now were not a detour from the prediction. They were the preparation for it.

Since then, Gibson has done the work across the kind of range most (non-ADHD / hyperfocused) people only describe. He built Cisco's end-user adoption business unit across Europe, Middle East and Africa and led collaboration technology SaaS adoption there. He also helped lead digital transformation at adidas Global HQ. He ran business development at Zurich Insurance, in the climate change space. He helped shape innovation at BP and he helped a Fintech and other companies open up new markets around the world. His career began at Accenture, as a management consultant.

In parallel, he has worked hands-on with founders, CEOs, and Boards to execute the kind of changes that move EBITDA. He ran his own consultancy focusing on retail, restaurant, and food businesses, in the back of house, kitchens, store rooms, buying teams, sales, marketing, supply chain, finance, M&A and then bridged those businesses to private equity firms to facilitate sale. Shop floors to boardrooms. Across industries, functions, and levels.

Today, Gibson owns and advises a portfolio of AI and non-AI ventures, consults to enterprises on AI workflow improvement, invests in private companies, and serves as a board advisor and mentor to founders.

His future predictions have come true. The preparation paid off. The work now is helping humans and businesses leverage technology, towards a more end state of community, betterment and wellness.

Gibson is Canadian, British, and spends time between London, South Africa, and Spain. He swims and hikes most mornings. He works mostly remotely. He answers his own emails.

"When I started with Gibson, I didn't even have AI downloaded onto my phone. Weeks later I was producing some of the most transformational work I've ever produced."
